Another Affordable Release!
November 19, 2011

Another release has been reported. Head over to your closest H&M for the erotic color and pattern combinations that until now have only been made available at the high fashion level.

In an effort to promote her new line and connect with "young people in search of inspiration" Donatella Versace met with fans of her work at the Regent Street release of Versace for H&M in London. This particular location is one of the few that released this more afforable clothing line. Meanwhile, much like the Missoni release for Target another website crash took place due to overzealous shoppers. Although the H&M collection may not be as top tier as the more couture releases, it is nonetheless an incredible simulation.

Missoni Madness!
September 18, 2011
On Tuesday September 13th, though media attention was undoubtably centered toward New York's Fashion Week, the general population seemed to have their hearts set on the release of Missoni for Target. As countless designers revealed their creative uses of Spring 2012 trends, the masses were piled outside of their neighborhood Target stores for the reveal of Missoni's more economically fashionable line.

In a shopping experience more reminiscent of a feeding frenzy, customers cleared the shelves of their local Target leaving little indication that they were originally stocked. For the more tech-savvy shoppers, target.com was no match for the numerous clicks to the site and caved under the voluminous pressure.

Known for beautifully feminine print garments, there is no wonder that such an excitement surrounded the release of Target's Missoni line. Following the example of designers such as Vera Wang for Kohls, Issac Mizrahi for Target and Jimmy Choo for H&M, the success of Missoni Target is sure to bring about a number of more affordable designers lines in the near future.

Ten is the New Twenty: Babes in Vogue!
August 7, 2011

Pouty lips, high heels and animal prints have draped endless high fashion shoots for decades. Though Vogue Paris has booted the teens and twenty somethings in exchange for mini-models. Ten year old Thylane Lena-Rose Blondeau has become the face of the most recent Vogue Paris spread. She traded in lollipops and jump rope for Louboutins and diamonds and is causing quite the global stir.

In the United States, where a huge debate regarding the sexualization of children has emerged, public reports have condemned Vogue Paris for their photographs depicting young children in a seemingly more mature light.  In response, several citizens of Paris have blogged in contradiction to the U.S. condemnation blaming the "American conservatism" for the lack of understanding.  Europeans have long been thought to have more liberal views than their friends across the pond, but could this be considered an instance of cultural divide or a loss in the battle to preserve childhood?

Rapped in Linens
July 21, 2011
Yves St. Laurent, Oscar De La Renta, Tom Ford, and Kanye West?!?! Yes, according to several recent reports, one of hip-hop's most controversial talents will launch a fashion line for the Spring 2012 season. With the assistance of famed British designer Louise Goldin, West will exhibit a luxury women's clothing line at the internationally famed New York Fashion Week.

In March it was rumored that Kanye West was enrolling in the masters program of the prestigious Central St. Martins London design school. Fast forward six months and the self-proclaimed "college dropout" will be able to live the dream of many of his would-be classmates.

Bearing the accolades of Central St. Martins professor Louise Wilson and the talent assistance of OZ stylist Christine Centenera, West's collection will certainly create a frenzy of curiosity at Bryant Park. Though, with the facilitation of such strong fashion representatives, will onlookers see draperies of Kanye West originals, or mirror images of collections in neighboring tents?

The Emperors ??Used?? Clothes!
May 18, 2011

Since the turn of 2011, the world has witnessed a series of uprisings in the Middle East and Northern Africa. Libya, one of the countries at the forefront of this shake-up, has undergone 42 years of repression and brutality at the hands of self proclaimed "Brother Leader", Muammar Gaddafi. Yet, at a time when Libyan people are plagued with civil unrest, Gaddafi's concern's lye elsewhere.

One would assume that the potential loss of over four decades of supreme political reign would consume an individuals entire existance. Though frozen assets, global snubs and the threat of prosecution for war crimes have not put a hitch in Gaddafi's strut.

Last month, Zainab Bint Abu Talib, Libya's Minister of Cultural Affairs, submitted a request to Horacio Silva, Fashion Editor of the New York Times, to help Gaddafi secure an exhibit of his wardrobe at the Met's Costume Institute. Surprisingly, the institute that recently showcased works of the gifted Alexander McQueen is considering a 2013 Gaddafi reveal.

Although nothing as been chiseled in stone, the world will be anticipating the clever headlines to come. Unfortunately, Alexander McQueen's exhibit snatched the title "Savage Beauty", so for now it is back to the drawing board.

John Galliano "You're Fired" Again!
April 16, 2011

It is no secret that the once highly regarded creative director of Christian Dior has experienced a year of downward spirals.

In February, Galliano was arrested for publicly hurling anti-Semitic slurs and other disdainful remarks at two women visiting a local Parisian cafe.  Shortly afterward, a video went viral proving the alleged activities and in a whirlwind of effects, Galliano was arrested, public apologies were released, and another celebrity checked into a US rehabilitation center for  being a hateful shell of a human.  If only such things were actually curable.

The house of Christian Dior was certainly not convinced by Galliano's attempts at personal improvement because shortly after the scandal hit, the fashion icon was handed a pink slip.

Two months later, Galliano faces an impending trial in Paris and could receive 6 months in jail and a $30,000 fine if found guilty.  Yet, Galliano is already receiving public persecution for his idiocy and has most recently been dismissed from own label of which 91% is owned by Christian Dior.  I suppose that after his release from jail, an obvious sentence to come, there will be a job awaiting him at the tailor's desk of your local dry cleaners. Keep an eye out, he will be the leopard spotted "Queen of Seams".

Work for Marc Jacobs and Pole Dance to the Top!        March 31, 2011

Former Marc Jacobs Chief Operations Officer, Patrice Latuillade, is suing the fashion house president, Robert Duffy, for allegedly using company funds as personal income among other ordeals of a sexual nature.

Latuillade claims that Duffy decorated his office with pornographic homosexual pictures and forced employees to look at them.  In addition, he insists that Duffy helped to produce a book containing photos of nude Marc Jacobs staff members and even made an employee perform a pole dance.

In most cases people strip because they are without the skills to obtain a well paying job.  Who knew that with this devastating economy riding the pole would help you keep one?

In an effort to fight this porn yielding tyrant, Latuillade wrote a firm letter to the firm's board complaining about all he has alleged.  Jus over a week later, Latuillade was relieved of his duties.

The company has affirmed that Patrice Latuillade was let go due to reasons unrelated to his complaint.  In fashion, sometimes you've gotta work-it to get work.
